Dear Mr. and Mrs. Trinh,

I met Linda through mutual friends Lilian Wouters (volleyball teammate) and Angela Lee (Alpha Phi member) during my junior year at The Johns Hopkins University. Lilian and I both work in Japan now and I heard the news of Linda’s passing rather late. I apologize for not being able to write to you sooner or attend her memorial services. The last time I saw Linda was at Angela’s wedding in Baltimore this past October. We spoke briefly but it reaffirmed my feeling of the overwhelming kindness in her heart. Though I was not a close friend of Linda’s, I always knew her as the kind, nice, happy person that she is widely remembered as by her classmates. Some may see the ending of a life at such an early stage as a waste, but I see it differently. I believe that Linda was a blessing to so many people in so many places around the world. In her 21 years, she has managed to put a smile on and brighten the days of countless people, including my own.

I hope that you and your family will find the strength to persevere in the tough times ahead. I know that the memory of Linda will continue to help brighten my day when I think of the good will that she embodied. I have no doubt that Linda is looking at all of us now, and helping each and everyone of us just the way she did when she was here.

With my deepest condolences,
Chieh Huang
