Ever since I knew Linda, when asked to describe her I always said that she was the type of person that you wanted to bottle up and carry around with you everywhere you went so that everyone could get a taste of her. Today, I hope to convey why.

When I first met Linda, I became addicted. I was addicted to her smile, her shrug, her stories, her commentary, her confidence and the overall aura that she emitted. Most of all, I was addicted to her laugh. I’m going to tell you about how she laughed so that, hopefully, you can understand one of the many reasons why we are “memorializing” her today.

Before she even started laughing, Linda looked at you, listening to your story while interspersing it with her giggles. As the story approached culmination, Linda straightened her back, slightly titled her head up, lifted her shoulders and laughed. This was no ordinary laugh. It was not forced or restrained. Most important, it was never fake. It was natural, full hearted, and addictive. She threw herself into it, enjoyed it and lived it.

In giving you attention and laughing with you she instilled confidence and comfort in everyone around her. To give you an example, I remember a few weeks ago when we were getting ready to get out I was complaining about hating my outfit. She looked at me and said, “But Karina, I modeled my outfit after yours.”

I’m telling you this so that you can take from me what I took from her. She taught me how to appreciate and how to be positive. She taught me how to find the good and laugh at the bad. She taught me that you have to throw yourself into it, enjoy it, live it and be a part of people’s lives, because that’s what she did best. Thank you Linda.
